Animal Chew Toys
- Description: Volunteers will make chew toys for animals using fleece. Chew toys will be donated to a local area animal shelter

Campus Gardens: Innovation Food Forest
- Description: All skill levels are welcome! All of the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to have an enjoyable and impactful volunteer experience will be provided to you at the shift! Explore the Innovation Food Forest and learn how to identify and remove invasive plants! We grow all kinds of perennial plants there, including many food producing trees, shrubs, vines and herbs, including persimmons, blueberries, lemon balm, passionfruit, and paw paws! To register, you will need to create a free account or log in, if you already have an account, on the Sustainable Sign Ups Volunteer Portal. Campus Gardens: Potomac Heights Vegetable Garden

Child Development Center
- Description: Volunteers will be guest readers in one of the 6 classrooms. Books will be available or bring a favorite childhood book to read.

Color a Smile
- Description: Color A Smile is a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading joy by distributing cheerful drawings to nursing homes, hospitals, Meals on Wheels programs, military troops overseas, and anyone else in need of a smile. Color A Smile has provided millions of these uplifting drawings, creating countless smiles along

Flower Pots for University Sustainability
- Description: Volunteers will decorate flower pots that will be given to University Sustainability. These flower pots are often given away during their farmer’s markets and are perfect for growing small seedlings.

Maintain Mason
- Description: Maintain Mason is a weekly program run by Student Government to pick-up trash around campus. Volunteers will join Student Government and walk to an area of campus to pick-up trash. Gloves and grabbers will be provided.

Mason Chooses Kindness: Cards for Veterans/First Responders
- Description: Volunteers will write Letters to Lift Spirits for Veterans/ First Responders to express gratitude and appreciation of their work and dedication.

Mason Chooses Kindness: Rock Decorating
- Description: Decorate rocks with inspiriting messages of hope, encouragement, or fun designs to share with others. Decorated rocks can be placed in various locations around campus to inspire others.

Mason Chooses Kindness – Pats for Patriots
- Description: Volunteers will help submit Pats for Patriots to thank, recognize, and show appreciation for a Mason colleague or student who has taken the time to do something kind, generous or thoughtful towards others. We ask that volunteers bring a laptop, tablet, or electronic device to use to help submit Pats for Patriots.

Pattie Elementary/Mason Partnership – Decorate picture frames for the residents at Potomac Place Assisted Living
- Description: Volunteers will work directly with 4th-5th grade students from Pattie Elementary to decorate picture frames for residents at Potomac Place Assisted Living

Storm Drain Markings
- Description: Join Mason Landscape and Grounds for a hands-on volunteer opportunity to help improve the health and accessibility of the walking trails surrounding the stream that flows into Mason Pond. Participants will assist with the removal of undesirable and invasive plant species while learning about the importance of stream restoration, stormwater management, and environmental stewardship at George Mason University. The stream restoration area was rehabilitated several years ago and continues to require ongoing maintenance to support water quality, native ecosystems, and trail accessibility. During the event, volunteers will receive plant identification guides to help identify target species and gain a better understanding of the ecological impact invasive plants can have on natural areas. All equipment will be provided, including gloves, shears, weed pullers, sunscreen, bug spray, and water. Due to equipment availability, participation is limited to approximately 15 volunteers.

Woman Giving Back
- Description: Volunteers will assist with collecting clothing donation boxes across campus and organizing and sorting the donated items..

Women Giving Back (Donations)
- Description:Women Giving Back distributes quality clothing to women and children in need at no cost. Help us make a difference! Items needed include: Spring/summer clothes and shoes for women and kids (infant to teen); Accessories such as purses, jewelry, hats, scarves; Professional uniform items such as suits, medical scrubs, chef’s whites; New, unopened makeup and toiletries; New, unopened diapers sizes (sizes 2 and 3); and new, unopened baby wipes.
