Campus Gardens: Innovation Food Forest *15 volunteer spots available | All skill levels are welcome! All of the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to have an enjoyable and impactful volunteer experience will be provided to you at the shift! Campus Gardens: Potomac Heights Vegetable Garden *10 volunteer spots available | Help grow food on campus to address food insecurity and increase ecological restoration. You may be asked to pull invasive weeds, prepare garden beds, sow seeds, turn compost piles and shovel mulch.If the weather is unfavorable, the shift may be moved to the indoor greenhouse as back-up. Campus Gardens: President’s Park Greenhouse *10 volunteer spots available | Help maintain the hydroponic greenhouse on-campus by cleaning, harvesting soil from our indoor worm compost bins, and propagating and potting houseplants. The Crayon Initiative (Donations) | We are collecting both new and used crayons. Crayons will be remanufactured into new, free crayons for kids in children’s hospitals to help color their world. | Crayons can be dropped off during the 9/11 Day of Service (anytime between 10:00am-1:30pm) in the Johnson Center, Dewberry Hall. Crayons may also be dropped off at the Center for Leadership and Intercultural Engagement (The Hub, Room 2400) anytime between August 25-September 10. Mason Chooses Kindness: Rock Decorating *8 volunteer spots available for each shift | Decorate rocks with inspiriting messages of hope, encouragement, or fun designs to share with others. Mason Chooses Kindness – Pats for Patriots *8 volunteer spots available for each shift | Volunteers will help submit Pats for Patriots to thank, recognize, and show appreciation for a Mason colleague or student who has taken the time to do something kind, generous or thoughtful towards others. Patriot Pantry (Donations) | The Patriot Pantry provides access to non-perishable food and hygiene items to George Mason University students who are experiencing food insecurity. The Patriot Pantry raises awareness about food insecurity within the Mason student population. The Pantry is housed under the Student Support and Advocacy Center (SSAC) in the Division of University Life. The Patriot Pantry relies heavily on donations to operate. | For more information on how to donate to the Patriot Pantry please visit our Donations page. Women Giving Back (Donations) | Women Giving Back distributes quality clothing to women and children in need at no cost. Help us make a difference!
